Children's nasal spray flu vaccine
You may have received an invite to book an appointment, for your child to attend the surgery, to receive a free nasal flu spray via text or letter.
Please ensure you have read the below information prior to booking their appointment:
The children's nasal spray flu vaccine is safe and effective. It's offered every year to children to help protect them against Flu. Children can catch and spread flu easily. Vaccinating them also protects others who are vulnerable to flu, such as babies and older people.
- If your child has a confirmed allergy to eggs please arrange a telephone appointment with a practice nurse prior to booking their child nasal spray flu vaccine appointment.
- Consent is required by the child’s parent/guardian at the time of their vaccination. If you are not able to attend with your child for their vaccination then please provide a written letter of consent for the person who will be attending with your child.
- If you received your child's invite via text you can arrange their appointment by using the 'booking link' at the bottom of the invite text.
- If your child is unwell on the day with a blocked / runny nose or a high temperature you may be asked to re-arrange the appointment.
Who is eligible to receive a child nasal spray flu vaccine?
All children that are eligible to receive a child nasal spray flu vaccine at the surgery will be invited in cohorts via text or letter. Please see the below information as to where your child is likely to be offered their child nasal spray flu vaccine:
How is the child nasal spray flu vaccine given?
The vaccine is given as a spray squirted up each nostril. It's quick and painless.
